Laura is the founder of Laura D. Swinchock Law Firm, LLC, where she assists clients in their navigation of employment-related issues.

Laura is a cum laude graduate of Duquesne University School of Law with a concentration in employment and labor law. Following her passion, she became a certified legal intern for the Tribone Center for Clinical Legal Education. She represented low-income clients through the Unemployment Compensation Clinic, assisting with unemployment compensation matters and hearings, and the Civil Rights Clinic, assisting with civil rights litigation and record expungements. Laura volunteered with the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund’s Name Change Project, through the partnership and leadership of Reed Smith LLP, where she provided pro bono legal name change services to low-income transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary people.

Distinguishable to Laura is the perspective she brings from her fifteen+ years of human resources and leadership experience across multiple industries, including healthcare, defense manufacturing, engineering and supply chain management services, and hospitality. Through those roles, she has experience developing policies and procedures, implementing compliance programs, investigating employee concerns and recommending solutions, negotiating labor contracts, and conducting training on employment law. Additionally, Laura partnered with local community organizations assisting underemployed/unemployed individuals, people with disabilities, and military service members navigate and overcome employment barriers. She is uniquely situated to combine her human resources and legal knowledge to benefit her clients.

Laura is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Pennsylvania and Washington County Bar Associations. Laura is also a Certified Professional in Human Resources through the Human Resources Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resources Management.
